ONCE UPON AN ENDING
To attain freedom, she had to be a slave to herself, never letting her guard down,
Thus, she did not get attached and stood proud.
She enveloped her tender heart and tucked it away from the tumultuous crowd,
Forging her soft smile into an indifferent frown.
Yet within the brightest parts of her sheltered heart,
Wretched Hope bloomed despite the marred scars.
Reason vanished, failing to conquer the rapid beats that refused to halt,
Still pulsating like unwavering twinkling stars.
By serendipity, she encountered a one-time rarity, and felt time freeze
A genuine connection, welcoming and soft as a summer breeze.
Stories were exchanged, fresh wounds from memories turned into painful words.
No entity would stop the stone from seizing the bleeding swords.
Destiny had interwoven a perfect web of tangled impossibilities,
A foreign land awaited her, conflicting thoughts mixed into a blur.
His impending departure for a sea inundated with hostilities,
Coupled with past wounds, would leave no survivors in the storms that would concur.
Coupled with past wounds, would leave no survivors in the storms that would concur.
Could Fate be gentler in other universes,
In lieu of merely sharing these doomed verses?
Could we throw a well-wishing coin so that our wishes materialize,
Or will we soon be staring into a different set of eyes?
Perhaps I could handle an agonizing heartbreak with more grace,
But how does one get over losing the right person, after finally finding peace?
