AN UNHEARD SCREAM

The arid land remained dry, despite any toil,
Exposing the cracks carved on the soil.
Do not let outsiders see them.
Fill them with seeds, and poppies will grow from them.

Yet Fate would not let blossoms bloom,
A sudden downpour flooded the crevices, bringing about doom,
And so the drought was swallowed.
How tragic, to die inside before you fully lived.

Electric bolts resounded,
Screaming at a world sleeping soundly,
Oblivious to the echoing tremors whipping the ground mercilessly.
An accrued rage now unbinded.

The chastised earth submitted to such force.
Allowing heaven's fury run its course,
And slide like a viper, zigzaging inconspicuously before striking,
Corrupting any creature left on the barren terrain.

Church bells clung in the distance,
Marking the end of what should commence.
On the horizon, the big star drowned with its promise of hope,
And with her glacial light, Selene helps foolish believers to cope.
